event: and so it starts
Hello, players! First off, before getting into the details of this event I would like to apologize for not having it out sooner. Like so many others, I have found myself challenged in a number of ways that have made it incredibly hard to do anything, much less something creative and fun. We all do our best and I take comfort in your patience. Thank you so much for sticking around. I know the game has gotten a little smaller but we shall endure as best as we can!
So, without further ado, after eight extremely long months, this event will act as a sort of soft relaunch for Fernweh. Are you ready? Let's break into the details!
Starting on the morning of November 1st, observant characters will notice a new face in town. Although she doesn’t appear nefarious by any means, there is something slightly strange about her beyond the fact that she doesn’t talk - only smiles and hums.
Later that evening, clouds roll in and a violent storm develops over Gazin, lasting for two full days. It then moves towards Vasari Forest for a few more hours before dissipating completely. At first, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. It was just a storm, all is well. But when the sun goes down a strange, reddish-orange glow lights up in the heart of Vasari.
Those compelled to investigate where the glow is coming from will only get so far before noticing symbols chiselled into the trunks of enormous trees or in intricate designs made out in rocks of all sizes. There are even some dangling from the tips of tree branches as ornaments made with twigs and twine.
Perhaps more puzzling is how these symbols tend to stay with those who notice them and not all do. For a short time, the glyphs become a part of their daily life, both in good ways and not so good. These odd-looking designs can also influence a person from the way they think and act to how they respond to certain experiences and situations. Specifics vary depending on which symbol they see.
At the conclusion of this plot on the 10th, all symbols will disappear and life will resume as normal.
Or will it?

I’m not really interested in this plot. Is there an opt-out?
Absolutely! There is no requirement to join in on this plot. However, your characters CR who may choose to take part so respect the in-game canon that forms with that.
So, how long will this plot actually run?
From the onset of the storm to the disappearance of the symbols, this event will run from November 1st - 10th.
Who is this ‘new face’ in town? Can my character interact with them?
Now that’s a secret that will be revealed in time! But it is obvious that this face is the reason for the storm and the symbols and that strange glowing in Vasari Forest. Unfortunately, this NPC does not speak and only smiles when spoken to. When everything returns to (almost) normal, “she” will disappear, too.
Speaking of that strange glow in Vasari Forest, what exactly is it?
That seems to be another unknown and oddly, there doesn’t seem to be an obvious source. It will also remain after the conclusion of the event. Any characters with a penchant for investigating won’t actually be able to solve the puzzle quite yet. But fear not! More clues will drop in future events!
Regarding the symbols, there’s a lot written about them. Can I pick and choose what I want my character to experience or do they have to do it all?
Run free! The write-ups are only there to give you an idea of what each symbol represents and how your character can be affected by it. Use the suggestions to customize their experience!
Did I read correctly that with the ‘fear’ symbol we can bring in other characters?
Your mod is a big fan of the dreamscape plot you may (or may not) have seen in other games, so, this is her way of involving it. It is optional, though. You don’t have to bring someone else in. Alternately, if you would like to have another character join in, make sure you and your scene partner are on the same page. Plotting posts can be done below and is strongly encouraged!
Um, I don’t know what a mindscape/dreamscape plot is. Help!
Dreamscapes involve a dreamer (your character) and a dream walker (another character) and allow the latter of the two to be privy to the former’s dreams as if they are a part of it. This works especially well when the dreamer wants to share personal information, such as fears or experiences they’ve been through that wouldn’t normally be shared. It can even be something as simple as sharing favourite places or introducing the dream walker to people who mean something to the dreamer.
I have another question!
Sure! There’s a top-level right under this base post. Ask away!

Fire: Prone to temperamental outbursts, irrational anger and mood swings. Characters may also become overconfident, ambitious and seductive and experience periods of overheating and excessive perspiration despite pleasant temperatures. Dreams may also seem to be influenced, with themes that focus on the colours red and orange, as well as fire.
Time: Characters who spot this glyph will find themselves dealing with the past, present and future. This may include intense feelings of déjà vu, constantly being late and/or being fixated on things that are yet to come. If your character dreams, it may be of someone they know trying to send a message that can’t be deciphered.
Fear: It might be something that makes you slightly jump or that sends you fleeing in the opposite direction, desperate to get away. The tricky thing is, however, that characters who see this symbol will seem to be a magnet for all things scary and uncomfortable. However, when it comes to dreams, this is the only symbol where characters who are directly influenced by it have the ability to pull others in to help them face -- and hopefully-- conquer their fears.
Power: Physical, mental, emotional or metaphorical, either you have strength and power or you don’t. For those who see this symbol, they will either deal with too much of it or not enough.
At the conclusion of this plot on the 10th, all symbols will disappear and life will resume as normal.

What about around the glow, or the symbols?
Thank you!

If you are still requiring an answer: Yes, the NPC is a druid and anyone sensitive to life energy will feel that. Anything she touches, so both the symbols and the glow in Vasari forest, will have that same energy, as well.
Hope that helps! Again I am so sorry for not seeing this earlier.
